Events offer alternatives to trick-or-treating
Parents looking for alternative trick-or-treat fun for their little ones might want to consider two events happening in Abbotsford on Wednesday, Oct. 31.
Sevenoaks Alliance Church (2575 Gladwin Rd.) is hosting a Halloween event for the community from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Activities include face painting, an obstacle course, a scavenger hunt, games and more. Bring along a decorated cake for judging to be used later in the cake walk.
Prizes and Halloween treats are also included. Donations will be accepted to help offset costs.
Call 604-853-0757 for more information.
The other event is at Straiton Community Hall, 4698 Sumas Mountain Rd., from 7:30 to 9 p.m.
The Halloween party includes crafts and games for the first 30 minutes (as supplies last), followed by a marshmallow roast and hot chocolate at 8 p.m. Goodie bags will be handed out. Cost is $2 per child. Reservations are required by calling 604-852-4278.
After Halloween, trick-or-treaters are welcome to take advantage of an offer being made by an Abbotsford dental office.
Clayburn Dental, located at 3033 Immel St., will pay kids $2 per pound – up to $20 – for candy they drop off from Nov. 1 to 3 during office hours.
“Our hope is that we can cut back on the candy ‘gorging’ and the children can spend the money on other fun things,” said Stephen Wall, marketing director.
