FRIDAY DANCES
Dances take place every Friday at the Abbotsford Seniors’ Association (ASA) hall (33889 Essendene Ave.) from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. The cost is $6 for ASA members and $7 for non-members. The bands for this month are: Good Vibrations (Oct. 5), Johnny Hsu (Oct. 12), Sweetwater (Oct. 19) and Shirley Rodgers (Oct. 26).
FISH AND CHIPS
The ladies auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion branch (2513 West Railway) in Abbotsford holds a fish and chips night on Friday, Oct. 5 from 5 to 7 p.m.
TELECARE FUNDRAISER
Living Hope Christian Reformed Church (34631 Old Clayburn Rd.) holds a Heart and Home fundraiser on Saturday, Oct. 6 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in support of the Telecare Crisis and Caring Line. Packaged soups, baking, and gift baskets will be sold.

COMPUTER CLASSES
Abbotsford Seniors’ Association (ASA) holds registration on Monday, Oct. 8 from 11 a.m. to noon for its next set of computer classes at the ASA drop-in centre (2631 Cyril St.). Classes begin Oct. 9 and run every Tuesday and Thursday for three weeks. Beginners meet at 9 a.m., and intermediates at 11. Cost is $60.
LEARNING PLUS
The Abbotsford Learning Plus Society holds two classes next week as part of its fall series. “Restorative Justice: Why Give People a Chance to Make Things Right?” is on Tuesday, Oct. 9. “What a Chord!” is on Thursday, Oct. 11. READING BUDDIES
Volunteers are needed to be “reading buddies” at Clearbrook Library (32320 George Ferguson Way). The program pairs adult volunteers and high school students with children in Grades 1 to 4 who need extra help with their reading skills. The volunteers spend an hour a week practising reading and playing literacy-based games with their little buddies. Students earn volunteer hours towards graduation requirements. An orientation session is provided to all volunteers before being assigned a little reading buddy. Application forms are available at the children’s desk in the library.
