MEET THE CANDIDATES

The Business and Professional Women’s Club of Abbotsford hosts female municipal election candidates at its luncheon meeting on Wednesday,  Nov.  9. Candidates for city council and the board of education will discuss their election platforms and their experiences as women in politics. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. at Cascade Community Church (35190 DeLair Rd.). Cost is $15 for members and $20 for guests. RSVP by Monday, Nov. 7 via email at bpwabbotsford@gmail.com.

FOR PARKINSON’S

The Abbotsford Parkinson’s Support Group meets Monday, Nov. 7 at 2 p.m. at the Matsqui Recreation Centre (3106 Clearbrook Rd.). The topic for the meeting is “Pole Walking,” a recommended form of exercise for  people with disabilities. Anyone with walking poles is asked to bring them. The Abby Mission Newcomers Club – a social group for women of all ages  – meets Tuesday, Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. in the Community Room at Real Canadian Superstore on Gladwin Road. SPELLING BEE

A spelling bee for Grade 6 and 7 students takes place at Mission Library (33247 Second Ave.) on Tuesday, Nov. 8 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Registration is required by calling 604-826-6610.

AUTISM SESSION

The Fraser Valley Autism Society (FVAS) hosts an information meeting about the registered disability savings plan on Wednesday, Nov. 9 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Fraser Valley Child Development Centre, 32885 Ventura Ave. Registration is required by calling 1-877-287-7655 (local 24) or by emailing arogers@compas.ca. NATURE CLUB
