Rotary club builds new playground
Members of the Rotary Club of Abbotsford – Sumas banded together on Sept. 24 to build a playground for children in the Huntingdon area.
The vibrantly-coloured adventure playground features a slide, a fort and a variety of climbing frames and is already a hit with neighbourhood children.
While still under construction one young area resident, Carly, came out to thank Rotarians as other neighbours stopped and cheered the construction team.
The Rotary Club of Abbotsford-Sumas has built numerous playgrounds around the city.
Previous projects include the playgrounds at Berry Park, Dormick Park Elementary School and Amblewood Park. Money raised during the club’s annual strawberry sales funds the work.
It was “a tremendous day, and all who attended worked so hard ... I am proud to call myself a Rotarian,” said club president Wendy Neufeld.
The Rotary Club of Abbotsford-Sumas wishes to thank everyone who purchases strawberries from them, thus making such projects possible.
