Police chief to speak to Abbotsford Chamber
A few years ago Abbotsford was faced with the headline “Abbotsford, B.C. is Canada’s murder capital again”.
But over the last three years, the Abbotsford Police Department has shed the murder capital title and recorded close to a 30 per cent drop in crime.
Abbotsford’s Chief Constable Bob Rich will be speaking at a June 6 Chamber of Commerce luncheon where he’ll shed light on how police have managed to decrease Abbotsford’s crime rate. He will also share what plans he has for policing in Abbotsford over the coming years.
A police officer since 1980, Rich became chief in July of 2008 and oversees more than 200 police officers and 70 civilian members.
Prior to joining the APD, he was with the Vancouver Police Department where he served as the deputy chief constable of the operations division.
This chamber luncheon will be held at the Sandman Inn in Abbotsford.
Chamber members and non-members are welcome to attend, although pre-registration is required.
