Prospera named Abbotsford's top employer
Vibrant Abbotsford presented Prospera Credit Union with their inaugural Top Employer Award at a special breakfast for the city’s business community.
Vibrant Abbotsford went through an extensive process to identify their first Top Abbotsford Employer and in accepting the award, Prospera’s President and CEO said the credit union is both humbled and honored by the recognition.
“Offering our employees a great place to come to work every day where they have a unique opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others and their community is a key part of how we do business,” said CEO Bruce Howell in a panel discussion that followed the presentation.
“To be recognized as a Top Employer for being true to our core values as an employer is a humbling experience for us.”
Participating in, and giving back to the community is a big part of Prospera’s success. In the credit union’s most recent employee opinion survey, 93 per cent of staff recognized that they are encouraged to be involved in the community and 89% said they believe that Prospera is a valuable and contributing member of the community.
Letting employees know that they are important members of the team and that their ideas are valued is a message that can get lost in the day-to-day operations of any organization.
“It takes a lot of communication to make sure you’re getting it right when it comes to ensuring that employees are happy and engaged,” explained Trudi Kloepper, Senior Vice-President, Personal Financial Services.
